Alan R. Jackson

Alan is an Oregon based photographer who has been creating images since approximately 1975

I grew up in Portland Oregon and still reside in the Portland area. My interest in photography started in the days of Kodak 126 and 110 Instamatic film cameras. As time went by I discovered more about photography from a high school class and further studies in college and professional level training in photography.

Landscape photography has been a constant theme in my Images. Black and White, and Infrared photography are a favorite of mine. I enjoy the elements of shape, form, and lines of architectural and human figure photography. Recently part of my concentration surrounds garden and flower photography.

Some of my favorite photographers from the past are Ruth Bernhard, Edward Weston, Wynn & Edna Bullock. These great image-makers continue to give me inspiration and keep me pushing towards personal excellence in my own work.

My photography style is relaxed, analytical, and unhurried. I am not a prolific shooter but strive for well-crafted images. Slowing down, enjoying the journey, and getting it correct in the camera makes the most sense to me. I often return to the same locations to produce quality images through the yearly seasons.

Like many other visual artists, my photography comes from fresh ideas, locations, and faces. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to collaborate on a photo session or have questions.
